Who We Are
On My Own Project
On My Own Project is a Chicago-based woman and minority-owned nonprofit 501(c)(3) Anti-discrimination and Social Justice Education Outreach Project. We advocate for victims of employment and housing discrimination and retaliation. It is the only project of its kind in the nation. Although our primary focus and advocacy efforts are for Illinois residents who are low income, have limited means or resources, and/or are members of marginalized groups or protected classes, we are available to provide information and answer questions for all American citizens who were either denied a job or promotion, lost their job or were denied housing because they were discriminated against based on race, color, age, religion, sex, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or genetic information. Our services are free of charge to everyone.
